Description
Located at the exit of the port towards SE, below the promontory of Punta della Madonna, on the E side of the island. The caverns, carved meticulously even below the sea level , were almost certainly used for fish farming, in particular morays, a fish considered sacred by the Romans for alleged propitiatory functions assigned to it. The discovery of statues of pagan deities suggests that the maritime installation was even used for religious celebrations.

How to get there: To get here is suggested to dock in the port or Ponza located at NW. It’s even possible to anchor at Cala del Frontone located N of the port, between Punta Frontone e Punta Santa Maria.
